The city was founded by Nicholas Kreekle in 1856 and began to boom ever since its first post office was established in 1859. Education
The city of O’Fallon is served by about three different districts that provide educational opportunities to the different parts of the city. The Fort Zumwalt School District serves most of the city and offers more than 16 unique elementary schools, four middle schools, and five high schools.
The South section of the city is served by the Francis Howell School District, which has been functional since 1830. There are more than ten elementary schools here, along with five middle schools and four high schools that also serve the rest of St. Charles County.
The city’s Western side falls under the Wentzville R-IV School District that has one early childhood center, more than ten elementary schools, three middle schools, and three high schools.
In addition to these districts, the St. Dominic High School, a private Catholic high school, and the Christian High School are located in the city.

The nearest international airport includes the St Louis Lambert International Airport, which is 18.27 miles away, and located in St. Louis. A nearby domestic airport includes the Spirit of St. Louis and can be found 12.2 miles away.
